A dual board-certified infectious disease specialist, Dr. De La Pena is affiliated with Infectious Disease Associates of Western Pennsylvania – UPMC. Throughout his academic career, Dr. De La Pena received his medical degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of the Philippines. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn where he was chief resident. He then pursued a fellowship in infectious disease at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, and an AIDS fellowship at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in New York. Remaining up to date in his field, the doctor is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
